The challenge

Why digital sales stall in Latin America — and how to fix it

For digital businesses, checkout and renewal are where revenue is won or lost.

What gets in the way

  • Card-only checkoutsMany buyers prefer Pix, bank transfers, QR or wallets — and many don’t have a card that works for international purchases.
  • Renewals that failCards expire, get reissued or hit limits, and a happy subscriber silently churns.
  • Currency sprawlEvery new market adds a currency to convert, settle and reconcile.
  • Instant delivery, instant riskDigital items are delivered the moment a payment clears, so fraud and disputes bite fast.

How Localpayment solves it

  • Local methods at checkoutPix in Brazil, PSE and Bre-B in Colombia, QR in Argentina, Bolivia, Guatemala and Peru, and local cards in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
  • Subscriptions with retriesScheduled or on-demand card billing in Colombia, Mexico and Peru, with configurable retries for failed charges.
  • Settlement in USDCollect in local currency and settle to your account in USD, with FX handled on the same platform.
  • Payer-approved paymentsAccount-to-account and QR payments are approved by the payer in their bank app — no card data involved. Cards add 3D Secure in Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

Capabilities

Everything a digital business needs to sell locally

  • Account-to-account & QR

Pix (QR and Copia e Cola), PSE, Bre-B, Debin, ETPAY and QR payments in Argentina, Bolivia, Guatemala and Peru.

  • Local and international cards

Visa and Mastercard in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, plus American Express, Naranja and Cabal in Argentina and American Express and Diners Club in Colombia, with tokenization for repeat purchases.

  • Recurring billing

Plans, scheduled and on-demand charges and configurable retries in Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Each charge is a pay-in with its own webhook.

  • Payment links

Share a link by email, SMS or social media for campaigns, gift cards or plan upgrades — no code required.

  • Settle in USD

Collections are converted and credited to your Localpayment account, ready to withdraw to your own bank account.

Flows

Three flows, one integration

Most digital businesses run all three. They share the same API, webhooks and reports.

A game, a course or a rental, paid locally

Ask the API which methods are available in the buyer’s country, show them at checkout and create the pay-in. Cards are authorized in real time; Pix, PSE and QR payments are confirmed by webhook.

  • Dynamic checkout per country from a single endpoint
  • Hosted WebCheckout, embedded iframe or Smart Fields to reduce PCI scope
  • Deliver the item as soon as the approval webhook arrives

Risk & security

Protect instant delivery without adding friction

Digital items are delivered the moment a payment clears, so controls have to act before that — without slowing honest buyers down.

  • Push payments approved by the payer in their bank app, with no card data involved
  • 3D Secure for cards in Colombia, Mexico and Peru
  • Chargeback management with evidence upload, plus BIN allow-listing
  • IP allow-listing on every API call and HMAC-signed webhooks

Industry FAQ

Where is this solution available?

Coverage varies by product, payment method and market. Check Coverage & Network for the current details.

Can I bill subscriptions in local currency?

Yes. Card subscriptions are available in Colombia, Mexico and Peru, with scheduled or on-demand charges and configurable retries.

Can players top up without a card?

Yes. Players can add credit with a Pix QR code, a QR payment or a transfer to a personal virtual account. Each deposit is matched to the right user automatically and you receive a signed webhook for every one.

How do refunds and disputes work?

Refunds go back by local rail, in local currency, from your balance. Instant transfers and QR payments are approved by the payer in their own bank app, so they do not carry card-style chargebacks; card payments use 3D Secure and follow the card schemes’ dispute rules.

Can I pay creators, studios or affiliates locally?

Yes. POST /api/payout/ sends local-currency transfers over Pix, SPEI, Bre-B, COELSA, TEF, CCE and more, one by one or in batches, with optional double-signature approval. Each payout carries your external ID and reports its status by signed webhook.

How do I receive my funds?

Collections are converted and credited to your Localpayment account, usually in USD. From there you can withdraw to your own bank account or to an allow-listed USDC or USDT wallet.

Do you support gambling or betting?

No. This solution covers streaming, digital content, apps, e-learning and video games. Gambling and betting are out of scope.

How do I test the integration?

You get Stage credentials at the start of the partnership. Stage mirrors production with test cards and a virtual-account payment simulator, so you can run every flow before going live — typically in weeks.

Grow your subscriber base in Latin America

Card subscriptions are available in Colombia, Mexico and Peru only. Get Stage credentials at the start of the partnership, go live in weeks and add new markets by configuration.
