Why Localpayment
Convert more card payments, with less risk
Faster repeat checkouts
Replace card data with a token in all four markets, so returning customers pay faster and subscriptions bill the stored card.
Higher tickets with installments
Let customers split credit-card purchases into installments, in local currency, in Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
Fewer fraudulent payments
3D Secure in Colombia, Mexico and Peru, BIN allow-listing and chargeback management stop bad transactions before they become chargebacks.
Less PCI scope
Smart Fields, the embedded iframe and WebCheckout capture card data in fields we host, so raw card data stays off your servers.

How it works
How a card payment flows
- 01
Capture
The customer enters card details in Smart Fields or a hosted checkout, or you reuse a stored token.
- 02
Authorize
Call POST /api/payin/ with paymentMethod.type CreditCard and the brand code for the country.
- 03
Authenticate if needed
If the issuer requests 3D Secure, redirect the customer to the challenge URL in the response.
- 04
Confirm
The result arrives in real time and by signed webhook, ready for fulfillment and reconciliation.

Capabilities
Everything card acceptance needs
Layered controls help you stop bad transactions before they become chargebacks.
3D Secure
Authenticate cardholders in Colombia, Mexico and Peru. When the issuer challenges, the API returns the challenge URL.
BIN allow-listing
Restrict acceptance to pre-approved BINs, managed by issuer and card type from the Business Portal.
Chargeback management
Get a webhook for every chargeback and upload evidence through the API or the Business Portal before the deadline.
Installments
Quote an installment plan, let the customer choose and charge — on credit cards in local currency in Colombia, Mexico and Peru (PEN only).
Pre-authorization & capture
Authorize now and capture later, or release the hold if the order doesn’t go ahead. Availability by market is confirmed during onboarding.
Refunds
Refund card payments from the API or the Business Portal and download proof of payment.
PCI scope
Keep raw card data off your servers
Collect cards with Smart Fields, the embedded iframe or WebCheckout. Card data is captured in fields we host and turned into a token your backend sends with the payin.
- Smart Fields: hosted card fields inside your own UI, via a JS SDK
- Embedded iframe: a white-label checkout with reduced PCI scope
- WebCheckout and payment links: no code and minimal PCI scope
- TLS 1.2+ in transit, AES-256 at rest and AWS KMS key rotation

For developers
Charge a tokenized card
Send the token instead of card details, and reuse it for later charges.
- Brand codes per country — for example 1600 for Visa in Mexico
- Stage test cards for approvals, declines and 3D Secure
- Webhooks for approvals, refunds and chargebacks

Frequently asked questions
Are cards available in Brazil?
No. Card acceptance covers Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. In Brazil, collect with Pix and Pix-key virtual accounts, which confirm in seconds, 24/7.
Which card brands can I accept?
Visa and Mastercard in all four markets, plus American Express and Diners Club in Argentina and Colombia. Debit cards are supported in all four markets.
Where are 3D Secure, installments and subscriptions available?
In Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Installments apply to credit cards in local currency, so in Peru they run on PEN payments only. In Argentina you can run one-time payments, tokenization, refunds and chargeback management.
How do chargebacks work?
You receive a chargeback webhook and can upload evidence through the API or the Business Portal before the deadline stated in the notification. If no evidence arrives in time, the dispute is usually resolved in the cardholder’s favor.
Can I test card flows before going live?
Yes. Stage provides test cards for approvals, declines, 3D Secure challenges and processing errors, with no real money involved.
How is card data protected?
Data is encrypted with TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest, with key rotation through AWS KMS. Smart Fields and hosted checkouts keep raw card data off your servers.
Can I store cards for later charges?
Yes. Tokenization is available in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. You store the token, never the PAN, and charge it later for repeat purchases or subscriptions.
Which currencies do card payments use?
Cards are charged in the local currency of each market — ARS, COP and MXN — and in PEN or USD in Peru, then credited to your account in your settlement currency.
