What it is

One payout flow over six national ACH networks

ACH (automated clearing house) is the bank-transfer network used for payouts in these markets. Localpayment documents ACH payouts in Panama, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras (where it is called ACH Pronto), Guatemala (for amounts above GTQ 20,000) and Colombia. Each country has its own code, settlement time and, where documented, cut-off. These markets are covered for payouts only, except Colombia, which also has pay-ins.

  • Same-day or T+1 in Panama and Colombia; T+1 in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala
  • Documented cut-offs: 14:00 in Panama, 13:00 in the Dominican Republic and 15:00 in Colombia, local time
  • One payout API and a signed webhook for the final status

How it works

How an ACH payout works

Actors and steps follow the documented flow. The final status always arrives by signed webhook.

  1. 1

    Your businessLocalpayment:

    Sends the payout request

POST /api/payout/ with the beneficiary details, amount and externalId. Compliance checks run; with requireAuth, a second approver signs off before funds move.

  2. 2

    LocalpaymentBank · ACH:

Locks the funds and sends the instruction

The payout moves from Locked to In Progress over ACH.

  3. 3

Consumer experience

What your customer sees with ACH

Authorization, limits and refunds as documented on docs.localpayment.com. Limits are shown only where the documentation states them.

  • How the customer authorizes

Nothing is required from the beneficiary. You create the payout with POST /api/payout/ using the country’s ACH code, the beneficiary’s bank, account type and number, and their document; if double-signature approval is enabled, a second user approves it in the Business Portal. The beneficiary receives the credit in their bank account within the documented settlement time.

  • Documented limits

Bank transfer (ACH) (Payout): Up to ≈ USD 10,000 · Bank transfer (ACH Pronto) (Payout): Up to ≈ USD 10,000 · Bank transfer (ACH) (Payout): Above GTQ 20,000 · Bank transfer (ACH) (Payout): Min. COP 40, no maximum. Per transaction, as published in the documentation; contractual limits may differ.

  • Refunds and returns

If the beneficiary bank rejects a completed payout days later (closed or invalid account), the funds come back to your Localpayment balance and the payout moves to Returned, notified by webhook. A recall for wrong beneficiary data is a manual request to our operations team and is not guaranteed.

Every status change is pushed to your endpoint, signed with HMAC-SHA256, so you can verify and automate.

  • Reconciliation in the Business Portal

Match every transaction through your externalId and our internalId, with Business Portal reports and balance APIs.

FAQ

ACH: frequently asked questions

Which countries support ACH payouts?

Panama (code 0150), the Dominican Republic (0080), El Salvador (0100), Honduras as ACH Pronto (0120), Guatemala above GTQ 20,000 (0110) and Colombia (0060). See the key facts table above for settlement times and cut-offs.

How long do ACH payouts take?

As documented, Panama and Colombia settle the same day or T+1, while the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala settle T+1. Cut-offs are 14:00 in Panama, 13:00 in the Dominican Republic and 15:00 in Colombia, local time.

How do I send an ACH payout?

Send POST /api/payout/ with the country, beneficiary data and the ACH code, and receive the final status by signed webhook. Confirm limits with your account manager.

What are the payout statuses?

100 Received, 101 Locked (passed compliance), 102 In Progress (sent to the ACH), 200 Completed (credited) and 300 Rejected, each delivered by signed webhook.

What happens if I send after the cut-off?

Payouts created after the documented cut-off (14:00 in Panama, 13:00 in the Dominican Republic, 15:00 in Colombia, local time) enter the next business day’s cycle. Plan batches accordingly.

What if the beneficiary account is wrong?

The receiving bank rejects the transfer and you get status 300 by webhook with the reason. The funds stay in your balance; correct the data and create a new payout.

Do I need a separate integration per country?

No. The payout API, the beneficiary object and the webhook are the same; only the country, currency and payment-method code change. New countries are enabled by configuration.
