Simplify your tax payment operations in Mexico
Tax, Bill and Service Payments is a payout method: instead of sending funds to a bank account, you pay a government or service billing reference on the beneficiary’s behalf.
Pay federal taxes from the same platform
A tax payment is one more payout (BillPay, code 0119) on the Localpayment API you already use.
Pay with the payment reference
Send the tax type and the corresponding payment reference; for Mexico, the SAT payment reference.
Available in Mexico (MEX / MXN)
For customers operating in Mexico, with payments in Mexican pesos.
Track status by webhook
Your backend receives the final status of every payment through webhook notifications.
How it works
From payment reference to completed payment
- 01
Send the payment
Call POST /api/payout/ with paymentMethod.type BillPay, plus billType and billReference in the beneficiary object.
- 02
Validation
Localpayment validates the required fields and the billType catalog.
- 03
Approval (optional)
With requireAuth set to true, the payment waits in PENDING_AUTH until you call the authorization endpoint.
- 04
Payment
Localpayment processes the payment with the tax authority or biller.
- 05
Webhook
Localpayment updates the transaction status and notifies you by webhook.

Localpayment does not validate that the declared amount matches the amount encoded in the bill reference: your integration declares the correct amount.
For developers
A tax payment is a payout with a bill reference
Use the Create a Payout endpoint with paymentMethod.type BillPay. Instead of a bank account, the beneficiary object carries the tax type and the official reference.
- paymentMethod.type BillPay, code 0119, flow DIRECT
- beneficiary.billType 0098: Federal taxes
- beneficiary.billReference: the 20-character SAT payment reference

Where is it available?
In Mexico (MEX), in Mexican pesos (MXN). It runs as a payout: Localpayment sends the funds to a government or service billing reference on the beneficiary’s behalf.
Which taxes can I pay today?
The billType catalog for Mexico covers federal taxes (billType 0098). The catalog grows as new tax and service types are added; confirm it with your account manager before going live with a new type.
What do I need to get started?
API credentials, a dedicated account funded for tax and bill payments, the billType you plan to pay and the bill reference (for Mexico, the SAT payment reference) from the taxpayer or biller.
How do I track each payment?
Localpayment notifies your endpoint of the final status by webhook, with the externalId, billType and billReference. A failed delivery is retried up to 3 times with exponential backoff, and you can always retrieve the transaction through the API.
Does Localpayment check the amount?
No. Your integration declares the amount encoded in the reference and checks that the reference has not been paid already, since a paid reference cannot be reused. Expired SAT references are rejected once validated against the SAT.
